what psi does it take to open the 1 1/2 spring loaded check?

150 PSI @ 73 degrees F Flow (OPEN)
75 PSI Back pressure (CLOSED)

Hi, I was wondering about the open and back pressure on this valve. Is 150 psi the required pressure or is that a max pressure? Same question for the back pressure. My system is only pushing about 40 psi and then the back pressure would be even less.

The minimum opening pressure is less than 0.5 psi. Flow velocity should not exceed 5 ft./sec. The open and back pressure listed would be the max pressure.

Can this valve be installed horazontal?

This swing check valve is designed to be installed horizontal. If a swing check valve is installed vertical (up and down) it will not function properly.
