If you have a 3/4" piece of pipe you will need a 3/4" valve.

What is the overall length of the valve (from the bottom of the bonnet to the top of the slip fit). I am installing on an existing pond with a gooseneck suction line so I need to ensure there is enough space between the bottom of the reservoir and the pipe.
