Will this coupling would slip over a 4" schedule 40 PVC pipe?

Sure, it will fit over the end of the pipe. However, this coupling is NOT made for use in any pressurized application. It's also not going to work exactly the same way a regular coupling would, as it is a repair coupling, so it's shorter and doesn't feature a stop in the middle. I would suggest using part number 429-040, as this part is the intended coupling for 4" schedule 40 PVC pipe.
