Gaskets

Gaskets are used to seal the connection between two pieces of plumbing where the two pipes or the pipe and the fitting meet together end to end without a slip joint or male/female connection. With the right gasket, this connection can be watertight, even without the ability to fit the pipes or the pipe and fitting into each other.

Gaskets are available in almost any diameter, but full face gaskets from PVC Fittings Online come in diameters ranging from 1/2 inch to 12 inches, with larger sizes available as custom orders.

In a piping system, the joint is the area where the greatest weakness can occur. A gasket is used to make the seal even tighter and strengthen this weak point. A full faced style gasket, like the ones provided by PVC Fittings Online, is designed to be used between two flanges or a flange and a pipe. They are made from thin, flat rubber to provide the necessary support for a water-tight seal. Pre-drilled holes line up with the holes in the flange. With a gasket, the system can be created to support high pressures where the joint would normally create a leak. With the addition of a gasket, common problems like inconsistencies on the face of the flange are compensated for. These gaskets are rated for between 150 and 350 psi for water systems depending on their diameters. In addition, the addition of a full face gasket limits the amount of bolt torque required for a tight seal, which in turn reduces the stress on nuts, bolts and flanges.

These EPDM gaskets are made from durable rubber and are ideal for situations that do not involve oil, kerosene, hydrocarbons, concentrated acids, gasoline or halogenated solvents.
