Clear Bushings

Clear PVC is an innovative material that offers the benefits of PVC with a clear material that allows you to see inside. Sometimes when setting up a clear PVC system, you will need to connect pipes that are not the same. To connect pipes of different diameters in a clear PVC system, you need clear PVC bushings. These reducing bushings use a slip socket end to connect two different diameters of pipe, going from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter. We stock clear bushings in diameters ranging from 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch to 8 inches by 6 inches, so you are sure to find the one you need for your system. All of our clear PVC bushings meet NS14-14 and ASTM D1784 standards.

When using reducing bushings like these clear PVC bushings, you should be aware that the flow will be slowed a bit. This is necessary to go from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter. Also, reducing the flow in this way can cause pressure to build up in the system. That is why it is recommended to use a cement adhesive to weld the ends together. The clear PVC material is quite strong, but any time there is a connection in a pipe system, there is a bit of weakness in the design. Adhesive will limit this problem if you are using these reducing bushings in a high pressure system.

These clear PVC bushings are schedule 40 PVC. That means they can handle a maximum fluid temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. They also offer all of the benefits of PVC, including the ability to withstand exposure to the elements and minimal wear and damage when exposed to corrosive chemicals. This makes them a perfect fit in industrial and chemical mixing applications. You can often see clear bushings used in clean rooms and laboratories, where visual inspection of the chemicals inside the system is necessary.
