Sch 40 Pipe Inside Connector
While most PVC fittings are designed to fit outside of pipe, a select few repair fittings can fit inside of Schedule 40 PVC pipe. These PVC inside coupling fittings are one of those exceptions. They are made with two Pipe I.D. Spigot ends that fit snugly inside of PVC pipe. In effect, this fitting acts as an inside coupler, connecting the two PVC pipes. Our inside connectors are only compatible with Schedule 40 PVC pipe of the same nominal size. They will not fit with any other schedules or kinds of pipe. For example, a 2" PVC inside coupling will only fit with a 2" nominal size Schedule 40 PVC pipe.
Inside PVC connectors are sometimes used when a repair needs to be made and there is not adequate room to fit a standard coupling. Because inside couplings fit inside of Schedule 40 PVC pipe, they do cause a reduction in flow that may be a factor in some applications. We currently carry these fittings in 1" - 4" sizes. Note: these inside couplers do still require solvent cement for liquid handling or pressurized installations.
Because PVC pipe of different schedules have different inside diameters, our inside pipe connectors can only be used with the type of pipe they were designed for - Schedule 40 PVC Pipe. That means these fittings are not compatible with Sch 80 Pipe, other pipe materials, or other sizing systems. PVC pipe is interesting in that, although all schedules of 2" PVC pipe have the same outside diameter, the inside diameter varies by schedule. In this way, fittings that fit over the outside of pipe are interchangeable, but inside fittings like these can only be used with their designated schedule of PVC pipe.
