Suitable for temperatures up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, schedule 40 PVC pipe is commonly used in cold or warm water applications, such as landscaping, aquaculture and some home plumbing situations. Schedule 40 PVC can withstand a variety of maximum pressures depending on the size of the pipe, but they typically cannot withstand as much pressure as their schedule 80 counterparts.
