Is this for a true 1/2" ID tubing, not 1/2" iron pipe size/PVC?

Whenever you see a size associated with a fitting, it tells you what size pipe it pairs with, not the size of the fitting itself. This fittings was meant to be inserted into 1/2" flexible PVC pipe. Pipe size does reference the ID, although it's nominal, not exact.
