PEX Fittings
For much of the 20th century, plumbing systems were constructed of iron piping. When that started to rust, people switched to copper pipe, which is resistant to corrosion, yet was still tough to install. Next, PVC came into the mix, with simple installation and inexpensive materials. While these systems are all still used, PEX has become the new material of choice. PEX (which stands for cross-linked polyethylene) tubing combines the benefits of copper and PVC. In addition to corrosion resistance, low cost, and easy installation, PEX is also flexible. PVC Fittings Online now carries a large supply of PEX fittings and crimp rings for every size of PEX tubing. Get your PEX fittings at the lowest prices online. PEX Fittings, The Benefits of Switching Over
PEX fittings are often made of brass or polly alloy, making them strong and rigid points of connection for the tubing itself. PEX does not need to be welded or soldered like iron or copper. It also does not need to be screwed or glued like PVC. PEX tubing and fittings connect with barbs and crimp rings. This means that making a connection is as simple as sliding the tubing over the fitting and tightening a metal ring around the connection. This system is quick and easy, with impressive pressure ratings. Properly-installed PEX systems have pressure ratings of 80psi @ 200F, 100psi @ 180F, and 160psi @ 74F. With these ratings, they can compete with any of the other popular home piping materials out there.
While PEX tubing will not start breaking down until it reaches 200F (93C), it is not recommended for use over 180F (82C) in home plumbing uses. This makes PEX fittings and tubing perfect for hot water uses, especially in home plumbing. It can also save homeowners a lot of money, as materials are inexpensive and repairs are straightforward! It's easy to isolate an issue in PEX systems and quickly replace a fitting or length of tubing.
