PVC pipe cutters come in a range of sizes and qualities. Some are designed for cutting up to 2" size pipe, while others cut smaller PVC and CPVC plastic pipes. Cutters come in a few different styles. The simpler cutters employ a scissor-like design, while more heavy-duty versions use a ratcheting mechanism. This ratchet style cutter requires less force and allows for a gradual cut. The PVC pipe rests in the "U" shaped rest, and the metal blade comes down gradually, cutting the pipe as you apply pressure.
Different piping jobs require different tools depending on the type of project you're working on. For instance, a plumbing project may require cutters, a wrench, a bevel tool and other specialized equipment. A furniture fitting project using PVC might require small pipe cutters, a level, and a rubber mallet for assembling all the pipe and fittings. Having the right tools for the job is essential in making sure everything is installed properly and the job gets done in a safe and timely manner.
