Schedule 80 PVC tees are thick-walled, dark gray PVC fittings used to create a branch connection in a piping system. The thicker walls of Schedule 80 provide higher pressure ratings and greater impact resistance than Schedule 40, making them the preferred choice for industrial, chemical processing, and high-pressure applications. We stock Sch 80 PVC tees in sizes from 1/4" through 12" across standard and reducing configurations, with select fabricated sizes also available.

Tees are one of the most common types of pipe fittings used in the plumbing industry. These fittings allow for the splitting of a line or the connecting of two lines at a 90-degree angle.

Our schedule 80 fittings meet ASTM D1784 Standards and are NSF-14 Certified.

Configurations Available

Socket (Slip) Tees have solvent weld connections on all three ends for a permanent, pressure-rated bond. This is the most common configuration for fixed piping systems.

Threaded (FIPT) Tees feature female pipe threads on all three ends. Threaded connections allow for disassembly and are well suited to systems that need periodic maintenance or component replacement.

Socket x FIPT Tees combine solvent weld run ends with a female threaded branch outlet. This lets you install valves, gauges, or other threaded equipment on the branch without disturbing the cemented mainline.

Reducing Tees connect a smaller branch line to a larger main run. Available in socket, socket x FIPT, and special reinforced (SR) configurations across a wide range of size combinations.

Special Reinforced (SR) Reducing Tees feature a reinforced female threaded branch designed to resist cracking from over-tightened male threaded connections. The SR design compensates for the expansion forces generated during thread make-up, making these a strong option for chemical feed lines and instrumentation tap points.

Common Applications

Schedule 80 PVC tees are used wherever a system needs to branch, split, or merge flow under demanding conditions. Typical applications include chemical processing and dosing lines, wastewater treatment, industrial plating and manufacturing, commercial and residential high-pressure water supply, pool and spa plumbing, irrigation, and laboratory or instrumentation setups. The corrosion resistance of PVC makes Sch 80 tees especially well suited to environments where metal fittings would degrade over time.

Installation Notes

For socket connections, apply PVC primer to both the pipe exterior and the fitting socket, followed by PVC cement. Insert with a quarter turn and hold for 15 to 30 seconds. For threaded connections, use PTFE thread tape or an approved pipe thread sealant. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections into PVC female threads, as this can crack the fitting. Where over-tightening is a concern, consider SR (special reinforced) tees for added protection. Always match tees to the nominal pipe size rather than measuring outer diameter, and derate pressure ratings for operating temperatures above 73°F.
