PVC Basket Strainers

Basket strainers (often called simplex basket strainers or simplex strainers) are the classic method of straining. They have two connections, one in and one out, with one basket in-between them. As fluid flows through the strainer, debris is caught in the basket and filtered fluid is allowed to pass through. The deep basket allows debris to fall to the bottom and not get in the way of flow, so pressure drop is minimal unless the basket is full. When debris needs to be cleaned out, the basket can easily be removed and dumped/hosed out. Click on one of our high quality Spears basket strainers for full product information!

Simplex Basket Strainers Constructed of PVC

Basket strainers such as these are economic options that remove debris and protect downstream equipment from being damaged. This equipment can include pumps which could get clogged and break if large debris was caught in them. The gray schedule 80 PVC that composes these simplex strainers have high pressure tolerances and can handle temperatures up to 140F (60C), so they are tough but not rated for hot water applications. They can, however, withstand many harsh chemicals, making them extremely useful. Finally, these PVC basket strainers are lightweight compared to metal strainers, removing the need for extensive pipe and equipment supports.
