Drain waste vent caps - known also as DWV caps come in a few different materials. On PVC Fittings Online we offer a full line of PVC caps. These are thermoplastic caps that are meant to be used in conjunction with other DWV PVC pipe and fittings. A cap is a type of fitting that fits onto a piece of pipe of the same size. For instance to cap off a piece of 4" PVC pipe, you would want a 4" PVC DWV cap. Standard style caps slip over the end of a pipe. They attach using a solvent weld connection. That means a primer and cement is applied before slipping the cap over the pipe's end. The two solvents soften the plastic to allow it to fuse together. The result is a leak-proof seal.

In the world of DWV, there is also another type of cap. This is the test cap. Test caps are used for similar reasons, to cap off the end of a piece of pipe or fitting. These, however, are not meant for permanent use. Instead, test caps are used during construction to keep contaminants out of the pipe and fitting parts. This makes keeps the pipe line clear from debris that may be detrimental when it comes time to use the line.

Because these are DWV caps, they are meant for non-pressurized uses like handling drainage or venting of sewage. DWV PVC caps should not be used to handle pressurized materials whether they be liquid or gas. They may come in handy for non plumbing or DWV uses like recreational building. Larger size caps can often be found over the ends of half poles at gas stations. Again, this is not a pressurized or straining use of the cap, so it serves a purpose of closing an opening and looking presentable. We carry a wide selection of PVC caps.
