Sch 40 PVC Unions

Like couplings, Schedule 40 PVC unions fit two pipes together. Unlike couplings, however, unions are designed to be a semi-permanent solution. These can easily be removed and replaced as needed, because they require no adhesive. This makes them the best choice when contractors are creating systems that may need to be changed or updated at a later date, or when creating systems that need to be regularly taken apart, either to move them or to inspect them.

Max temperature 140 F. Max pressure varies based on fitting size. Our schedule 40 unions (excluding class 125) meet standards ASTM D-1784, ASTM D-2466/2467, NSF/ANSI 14 & 61.

Since Schedule 40 PVC is commonly used in building temporary structures, like tent supports, these unions are a popular way to join pipes. They can be quickly taken apart when the structure is no longer needed. These fittings are either female threaded or slip socket, providing a tight seal for the system, but also providing the ability to remove the fitting when needed without much hassle.

Because these union are made from PVC, not metal, they have a smooth interior that is free of bumps and ridges. This allows an uninterrupted flow when they are used in systems containing fluid, making them a good choice when a system requires a steady rate of flow. PVC resists corrosion, so these unions can be used in locations where metal fittings are not ideal, such as underwater or underground. The fittings also stand up well under exposure to the elements, including sun exposure and cold exposure. For this reason, these are commonly used in outdoor settings, including irrigation projects. They can also be used in residential plumbing, provided they are not carrying liquids with temperatures above 120 degrees.

Schedule 40 PVC unions are available in diameters from 1/2 inch to 2 inches. The PVC material makes these an affordable option for temporarily connecting two pipes with a watertight but not permanent seal. Whether for a building project or a piping system, these Schedule 40 PVC unions are a great choice when affordability and durability are both required.
