Sch 80 PVC Couplings

Schedule 80 PVC couplings are used to connect two lengths of pipe in a PVC pipe system to allow the continuous movement of fluids. These couplings come in a range of sizes and configurations, allowing for the connection of pipes with differing ends and differing diameters. This variety makes these Schedule 80 PVC couplings some of the most flexible options for connecting pipes.

Our schedule 80 fittings meet ASTM D1784 Standards and are NSF-14 Certified.

The two most common types of PVC couplings are S and FPT couplings. S couplings are socket, slip or spigot couplings, with the FPT being female pipe thread couplings. S couplings are used when the pipes have no threading. The coupling slips into place and can be reinforced with adhesive. The FPT couplings are used when the pipe has a male threaded end. MPT, or male pipe thread, couplings are also available to connect pipes with female threaded ends, but these are slightly less common. Most couplings are the same on both ends, but some have different ends, such as SxMPT.

Some couplings have the same size diameter on both sides, while others come in different sizes. Those with different sizes are known as reducing couplings. These are used to connect two pipes of differing diameters. The size options for couplings range from small ΒΌ inch diameter couplings to large 12-inch diameter couplings, with a range of variations for reducing couplings.

All of these couplings are made from durable PVC. PVC is perfect for use where water or soil may be a factor affecting the couplings. With PVC, the metals in the soil and the presence of water will not damage the fittings, thus protecting the line even if it must run underground or through liquids. PVC is also resistant to chemical corrosion and damage from heat, making these ideal as all-purpose fittings. Because they are Schedule 80 PVC couplings, these fittings can withstand higher pressure than their thinner Schedule 40 counterparts.
