How to Make a PVC Side Table

How to Make a PVC Side Table

Mark Ligon |

Decorating a house is often a fun and exciting project, but that excitement usually comes with a hefty price tag. Finding ways to expand your budget without sacrificing style can be hard, and that’s where PVC can help. Gone are the days where PVC is just for plumbing – it’s now being used to build furniture and décor. The best part is you can do it yourself! Below we’ll walk you through how to build a side table with PVC.

Materials

To build your PVC side table you’ll need:

10 feet of 1” PVC

(4) 1” Elbows

(4) 1” Tees

(4) 1” Flanges

(4) 1” Adapters

Wood for the top*

Screws

*We know it sounds a bit ambiguous to put “wood for top” but that’s because how your top looks is completely up to you! The stand itself will be approximately 9”x7.5”. Build your top to be a square that’s 10”x8”. Or, you can make it to be circle with an 11” diameter. Build it bigger or smaller. The choice is completely yours!

Steps for PVC Side Table

Step 1: The first thing you’ll need to do is cut your 1” PVC to size. You’ll need:

(8) 10” sections

(2) 9” sections

(2) 7.5” sections

Step 2: Take two of your 10” sections and connect them with a tee. Place an elbow on the bottom end. Repeat this 3 more times.

Step 3: Next, take a 9” section and connect two of the poles you built in step two together at the tee. Repeat a second time. (Note: when looking at the stand, the 9” section should run from front to back.)

Step 4: Take your 7.5” section and connect your elbows. Repeat a second time. (Note: when looking at your stand, the 7.5” section should run from left to right.)

Step 5: Take an adapter and connect it to a flange. Repeat this 3 more times.

Step 6: Take what you just made in step 5 and place them on the top ends of your poles.

Step 7: Once you’ve done a dry run with everything, use the primer and cement to hold the PVC together. Use the screws to attach the wood to the top of the stand.

Furnishing Your House With PVC

Furnishing your house gives you a chance to showcase your style to all who come over. By building your own furniture with PVC, you gain an even bigger opportunity to showcase your style. Design your top in any shape you’d like, or spray paint your PVC in any array of colors. Consider swapping out the Schedule 40 PVC with Furniture Grade PVC (not sure the difference between these two? Find out here). With this PVC side table, the options truly are endless.
