This organizer will also keep your fishing rods from becoming tangled with one another and will help them maintain their shape.

Materials Needed for the PVC Fishing Rod Organizer

The great thing about this fishing rod organizer is that you can customize it specifically to how many fishing rods you need to store (or hope to accumulate). That’s why you won’t see a specific length of PVC for the project. You can create your fishing rod organizer to your needs and available space.

Step #1 – Prepare the PVC pipe

In the PVC pipe, you will be drilling a 1” hole spaced 4” apart. So, now is the time to consider how many fishing rods you want your organizer to hold or the length of PVC pipe that you have space to accommodate. Once you have determined that, drill your holes in the pipe and set aside.

Step #2 – Prepare the foam swimming pool noodle

Measure the pool noodle and cut to the same length as your PVC pipe. Then, with your utility knife, cut slits in the noodle 4” apart. The slits should go about halfway through the noodle.

Step #3 – Attach swimming pool noodle to the wall

To attach the pool noodle to the wall, line it up so that at least two of the slits you cut are on top of studs. Now, with those slits that are over the studs, pull them apart, put a fender washer inside and screw the pool noodle to the wall with the woodscrews.

Step #4 – Attach the PVC pipe to the wall

Lastly, you need to attach the PVC pipe to the wall. Line it up so that the 1” holes you drilled are facing up and are in line with the slits in the pool noodle. Attach the PVC to the wall with woodscrews at a comfortable height, and your organizer is ready for your fishing rods. The rod slips into the slit in the swimming pool noodle and the handle sits in the hole in the PVC pipe.

DIY Fishing Rod Organizer

This do-it-yourself PVC and pool noodle fishing rod organizer will save you from the frustration of grabbing one of your fishing rods only to find that all your lines are all tangled up. Additionally, the organizer doesn’t take up much space, just a few inches out from an existing wall, so you don’t have to make a bunch of space for it. What could be a better or more cost-effective way to store your fishing rods when you’re not at the lake?
