Steps for the Decorative Candy Cane
*Note: Repeat steps 2-9 two times for two separate PVC pipe candy canes.
Step 1: Cut your PVC pipe to length. You’ll need two 2’ sections.
Step 2: With one of the pieces of PVC, attach the drain to one end of the pipe, and the P-trap to the other end.
Step 3: Insert the street elbow’s spigot end into the p-trap.
Step 4: Apply the paint primer, and then lay a base coat of white spray paint. You may need two layers of white.
Step 5: Wrap your tape around the candy cane to form the stripes of the candy cane. This can be slightly tricky around the curves but the imperfections are what make it perfect!
Step 6: Once tape is in place, apply the red paint. You may need two coats. Just before the paint completely dries remove the tape.
Step 7: Take your drill and drill holes where desired on the candy cane. Ensure the holes are on both sides. Use the sandpaper to remove any shavings.
Step 8: In the hole closest to the bottom, string your lights through and feed them up to the top of the candy cane. The lights stay inside the candy cane, unless you want to feed them through all of the holes.
Step 9: Take the drain off the bottom and fill with gravel and then reattach. This will help your candy cane stay balanced.
*Remember: Repeat steps 2-9 two times to have two candy cane decorations.
