Primer

PVC and CPVC primer is an important step in creating a strong and lasting joint. Many building codes require use of primer wherever you are using PVC or CPVC solvent cement. The primer, as the name implies, gets the pipe and fitting material ready to be joined together. It is applied right before cement to clean and soften the material so it can create an optimum weld. Most primers are suitable for both PVC and CPVC materials. They usually come in either a clear or purple color. Purple primers are commonly used where local code requires proof of primer application on joints.
