PVC gate valves are used to allow, block and regulate flow in a pipe line. The user-operated handle turns two ways, raising or lowering the "gate" inside the valve body. This is ideal for applications where a gradual shutoff is beneficial, or where throttling is needed. Gate valves generally come in two handle styles - rising stem and non-rising stem.

PVC gate valves are made of three main components: an actuator (or the handle for manual valves), a housing, which keeps the valve in its place, and the gate. The gate is made from a small piece of PVC (plastic) that stops the flow when the valve is completely closed. The actuator may be a lever or wheel depending on the design of the valve. The design is simple. When the valve is opened, the gate lifts out of the path of the fluid, so it can flow freely. When it is closed, it lowers into place to stop flow.

PVC is the preferred material for gate valves for many applications, including aquatics and aquaculture, landscaping and irrigation, indoor plumbing, spas, tank drain valves and septic systems. When used outdoors, these valves are not damaged by freezing temperatures, and they can withstand up to 120 degree temperatures as well. They resist corrosion, so they can be used in chemical processing applications using highly corrosive materials. They are an affordable alternative to metal valves, yet offer excellent durability for many years of reliable use. PVC gate valves are available in a range of sizes, and we stock sizes from 1/2 inch all the way to 4 inches. Both threaded and socket ends are available as well.
