Metal Stop Valves

Stop valves, often called shut-off valves, are a type of valve most commonly used in home plumbing. They connect an appliance, such as a sink or toilet, to the building's water supply and allow water flow to be shut off easily. Stop valves are usually constructed with brass, as it is a low-cost material that naturally fights against bacteria and does not rust. These valves only work in one direction, due to the design of the valve's seating, so directions is typically marked on the outside of the valve. In addition to this, most appliances' fittings would not be compatible with the inlet of a stop valve due to size differences, so there is very little risk of getting it the wrong way.
